Welcome to IEEE ITSC 2026

Dear Colleagues,

On behalf of the Organizing Committee, it is our great pleasure to welcome you to the 29th IEEE International Conference on Intelligent Transportation Systems (IEEE ITSC 2026) in Naples, Italy.

IEEE ITSC 2026 marks a historic milestone: for the first time since the conference series was established, the flagship conference of the IEEE Intelligent Transportation Systems Society is being held in Italy. We are honored that Naples—a UNESCO World Heritage city and a centuries-old crossroads of cultures, innovation, and knowledge—has been chosen to host this memorable edition.

First and foremost, we thank you for your continued commitment to the IEEE ITSC community. Your research, innovations, and practical contributions have made ITSC the premier international forum for advancing intelligent transportation systems and shaping the future of safe, connected, automated, and sustainable mobility.

Organizing IEEE ITSC 2026 has been a truly collaborative effort. We sincerely thank the IEEE ITSS Conferences Standing Committee, the Technical Program Committee, Associate Editors, Reviewers, Organizing Committee, and the many volunteers whose dedication and professionalism have made this conference possible.

The technical program has been built through a rigorous peer-review process to ensure the highest scientific quality while covering the latest advances in Intelligent Transportation Systems. Alongside keynote lectures, regular and invited sessions, workshops, tutorials, demonstrations, and special sessions, IEEE ITSC 2026 strengthens its connection with industry through a dedicated Industry Track. Papers reporting industrial contributions are included in regular and invited sessions together with scientific papers, creating new opportunities for dialogue between researchers, technology developers, and industrial leaders to accelerate innovation and real-world deployment.

Beyond its outstanding technical program, IEEE ITSC 2026 is a conference built around people and community. We encourage you to take part in the networking activities, social events, and cultural experiences that make ITSC a unique opportunity to build collaborations, exchange ideas, and create lasting friendships.

This edition also introduces several exciting initiatives for students and early-career researchers. For the first time in the history of IEEE ITSC, we proudly launch the IEEE ITSC Hackathon, inviting multidisciplinary teams to tackle real-world mobility challenges through creativity and innovation. The Late Breaking Results Poster Session offers an additional venue for presenting emerging research, while the Talent Portal & CV Booklet connects students, young professionals, researchers, and employers, fostering career opportunities and stronger academia–industry collaboration. Dedicated activities for Young Professionals, Women in Engineering (WIE), and students further demonstrate our commitment to an inclusive, dynamic, and vibrant ITS community.

Whether you are presenting your research in a regular or invited session, leading a workshop or tutorial, attending inspiring plenary lectures, showcasing innovative technologies through demonstrations, participating in the Hackathon or the Late Breaking Results Poster Session, engaging with the Industry Track, exploring career opportunities through the Talent Portal, or simply reconnecting with colleagues from around the world, we hope IEEE ITSC 2026 will provide an inspiring environment where scientific excellence, innovation, collaboration, and friendship come together.

Thank you for being part of this historic first Italian edition of IEEE ITSC. We wish you a rewarding conference and an unforgettable stay in Naples.
